We are committed to creating and sustaining a lab culture that welcomes and supports scientists of all backgrounds. Diversity improves our science, and we strive to achieve equity in our field and lift up the work of BIPOC scientists as we train the next generation of researchers. We work to accomplish this by:
- employing a student-centered research process where students at all levels play a primary role in project design, implementation, and authorship;
- conducting research that can improve the quality of life of those who experience perceptual and language difficulties;
- amplifying the work of BIPOC scientists and ensuring that diversity is represented in our research materials;
- expanding participation of underrepresented students in perception and language research and equipping them to succeed as researchers.
We welcome students and researchers of all races, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, and physical abilities. All members of the lab are expected to contribute to a respectful, friendly, and inclusive environment.
